The Mumford Mustangs fell victim to the Catholic Central Shamrocks''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 35-0 defeat at the hands of the Shamrocks. While losing is never fun, Mumford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 447th, while Catholic Central is ranked 24th).
Mumford's defeat was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Ford and 11-1 Dakota (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 63.8% over those games). As for Catholic Central, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Mumford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Catholic Central will head out on the road to face off against Novi at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
