Clemens took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against East Central, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Sophia Valencia was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Celestina Daniels was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Ava Arnold was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games.
