The Maine South Hawks will head out on the road to challenge the Brother Rice Crusaders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Maine South will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Maine South lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Glenbrook South, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Titans on Thursday. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Hawks this season.
Connor Griffin tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Luka Stojakovic was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Nate Cera was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Maine South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Brother Rice had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Wednesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Porters.
Brother Rice also got a great performance from Brayden McKendrick as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. McKendrick has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Brother Rice's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Natanek, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Brother Rice's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Maine South, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
