After flying high against the King's Academy Lions last Wednesday, the Marlboro Academy Dragons came back down to earth. Marlboro Academy took a hard 58-42 fall against Dillon Christian on Friday. Marlboro Academy lost against Dillon Christian in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 75-36 score last time.
Dillon Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jackson Outlar out in front who scored 24 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Outlar is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Thompson Stone was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Marlboro Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Dillon Christian, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marlboro Academy will square off against King's Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. King's Academy is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. As for Dillon Christian, Dillon Christian and Lee Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Lee Academy is ranked 207th, while Dillon Christian is ranked 201st).
