The Lugoff-Elgin Demons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 21st straight defeat. They were the victim of a rough 54-33 defeat at the hands of Irmo. Lugoff-Elgin found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post seven fewer assists than your opponent.
Lugoff-Elgin's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jillian Rush, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Rush has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Teryn Hobson, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Lugoff-Elgin were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. This was only their 15th loss (out of 18 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Irmo got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Claire Howard out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Howard is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Karin Burson-Wells, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Lugoff-Elgin's defeat was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-23. As for Irmo, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-11.
Lugoff-Elgin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Irmo also has no future games currently scheduled.
