It was a good run, but the Scotts Hill Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 68-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Riverside. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Riverside found their leader in underclassman Jack Cupples, who scored 30 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cupples has scored at least a third of Riverside's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jagger Cupples, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Scotts Hill's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9. As for Riverside, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scotts Hill will challenge Madison at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Madison: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Scotts Hill has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road. As for Riverside, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Jackson Central Merry at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Riverside is facing Jackson Central Merry at the right time seeing as Jackson Central Merry is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
