Baseball Recap: Palmer Beats Houston for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Palmer extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping their season record up to 8-5 in the process. Everything went their way against the Houston Hawks as they made off with a 9-3 win. The Moose might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Reed Craner was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Palmer's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Craner was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Wyatt Jacobs and Wyatt Beal did most of the damage at the plate: Jacobs went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Beal went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Beal a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Palmer hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Houston struck out 14 times.

As for Houston, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

On Houston's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Spencer, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Spencer has hit this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palmer will challenge Wasilla at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Houston, they will square off against Redington at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Huskies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.4 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
