The Mullen Mustangs had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against Westminster by a score of 36-27 on Wednesday. That's another feather in the cap for Mullen, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Mullen was led to victory by Allison Schwertner and Makenzie Jones. Schwertner dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Jones scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Mullen's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Westminster, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Mullen will head out on the road to face off against ThunderRidge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Westminster, they will take on Mesa Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
