Basketball Game Preview: Mira Mesa Marauders vs. Cathedral Catholic Dons

Mira Mesa is 1-7 against Cathedral Catholic since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Mira Mesa Marauders will host the Cathedral Catholic Dons at 7:00 p.m. Mira Mesa has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Friday, Mira Mesa came up short against Scripps Ranch and fell 49-41. While losing is never fun, the Marauders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while the Falcons are ranked 211th).

Defeat or not, Mira Mesa got some senior leadership from Ivorii Seals and Alyssa Otero. Seals dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards, while Otero posted 16 points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards Seals has posted since back in December of 2023.

Cathedral Catholic has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 46-33 to Westview on Monday. The Dons were down 41-19 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Cathedral Catholic's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-6. As for Mira Mesa, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.
