It was a good run, but the North Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were dealt a 75-46 defeat at the hands of Carl Hayden Community. North found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post 12 fewer assists than your opponent.
North's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Xavier Moreno, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moreno has scored all season. Varney Kamara was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Carl Hayden Community got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Prince Cash out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Cash hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Dru Carter, who scored 14 points along with six steals and five assists.
North's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Carl Hayden Community, they pushed their record up to 14-8 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
North will take on Camelback at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Camelback is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.9 points per game this season. As for Carl Hayden Community, they will head out on the road to take on Maryvale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Maryvale will be up against Carl Hayden Community's rather soft defense (which has allowed 54.55 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive showing.
