The Morehead Panthers were the 63-56 winner over the West Stokes Wildcats when they last played one another on January 5th, but their luck changed this time around. Morehead fell 68-59 to the Wildcats on Tuesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (55), Morehead still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Morehead lost, one person who can't be blamed is Makel Smith. Despite the final result, he scored 34 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 57.6% of Morehead's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Chandler, who scored nine points along with seven assists and three steals.
Morehead has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season. As for West Stokes, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morehead will take on the Phoenix at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for West Stokes, they will play host again and welcome the Red Raiders, where tip off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. on Friday. T.W. Andrews is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
