Oxbridge Academy is 0-3 against Westminster Christian since May of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The ThunderWolves will head out to challenge the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Oxbridge Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Oxbridge Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over Palmer Trinity. The ThunderWolves haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Riley Lyons, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiya Glucksman, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Westminster Christian waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Lions get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won ten contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Mya Rodgers was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Jasmine Armenteros was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Gigi Khoury, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Westminster Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive games.
Westminster Christian's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Oxbridge Academy, their record now sits at 17-7.
Both Oxbridge Academy and Westminster Christian just can't seem to miss. The ThunderWolves have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Westminster Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oxbridge Academy might still be hurting after the 17-9 loss they got from Westminster Christian in their previous meeting back in May of 2021. Can the ThunderWolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
