The Kiowa Indians came tearing into Wednesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Gilpin County by a score of 48-36. This was payback for Kiowa, who suffered a 43-34 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kiowa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordan Perreault, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Perreault hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Paola Vidales, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Gilpin County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was ELISE VINCENT, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. KAILEE STARKEY was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five assists and five steals.
Kiowa's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Gilpin County, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
Kiowa won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Colorado Springs School at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. Colorado Springs School comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Gilpin County on the road again on Saturday and play against Clear Creek at 12:30 p.m. on January 20th. Clear Creek comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
