Wimberley is 3-0 against Austin Achieve since November of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Wimberley Texans will head out on the road to face off against the Austin Achieve Polar Bears at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wimberley has nine straight wins, Austin Achieve has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Wimberley earned a 34-22 victory over Lago Vista. Given Wimberley's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Lago Vista is ranked 486th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Cody Stoever, who rushed for 179 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 106 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Austin Achieve fell victim to Navarro's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Panthers on the road and fell 63-0. Austin Achieve was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Wimberley's victory was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 Austin Achieve and 2-8 Pieper (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 44.4% over those games). As for Austin Achieve, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Wimberley has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 227.4 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Austin Achieve, though, as they've been averaging only 95.5 per game. How will Austin Achieve fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Wimberley against Austin Achieve in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 66-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wimberley since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
