Mansfield is 9-1 against Canton since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Hornets will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 3:45 p.m. Mansfield's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Canton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Monday, Mansfield beat Foxborough 7-2. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.
Luke Rogan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Mansfield is 5-2 when Rogan allows two or fewer earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise. Rogan was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Darrian Sanders was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brendan Vokey, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canton). They put the hurt on Stoughton with a sharp 13-4 win on Monday. The victory was familiar territory for the Bulldogs, who have now won three contests in a row.
Canton also got a great performance from Kyle Redquest as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.
At the plate, Andrew Gillis was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. JT Norton was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.
Canton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.
Mansfield now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Canton, their record now sits at 11-7-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mansfield has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Canton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Mansfield skirted past Canton 3-1 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
