The Pewaukee Pirates will take on the Catholic Memorial Crusaders at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Pewaukee 3.7, Catholic Memorial 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Pewaukee is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Grafton by a score of 10-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.
Samantha Brewster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Estella Levas, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Harper Gould was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, Catholic Memorial put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Kettle Moraine Lutheran a 3-0 shutout.
Ashlyn Hunt made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Hunt was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Hunt wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sloane Haase, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Catholic Memorial hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kettle Moraine Lutheran struck out 14 times.
Pewaukee's win bumped their record up to 18-9. As for Catholic Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 19-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pewaukee has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Catholic Memorial struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 12.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Pewaukee's way against Catholic Memorial in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Pewaukee made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
