Chicago Hope Academy are taking a road trip to face off against the De La Salle Meteors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chicago Hope Academy is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
Chicago Hope Academy couldn't beat Marian Central Catholic on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. Chicago Hope Academy lost 18-7 to Marian Central Catholic.
Andi Medina was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Medina was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Xochitl Rodriguez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Isa Medina, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask De La Salle). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park a 22-0 shutout on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Meteors, who have now won seven matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Like Chicago Hope Academy, De La Salle also got a great game from a two-way player: Abby Trendle. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Trendle was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Mya Alvarez was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Kai Williams also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
De La Salle hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive games.
De La Salle has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Chicago Hope Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Chicago Hope Academy suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to De La Salle in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Chicago Hope Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
