Montpelier has gone a perfect 7-0 against Edon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Locomotives will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bombers at 4:30 p.m. Montpelier will be strutting in after a victory while Edon will be coming in after a loss.
Montpelier took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Pettisville a 19-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Locomotives in their matchups with the Blackbirds: they've now won six in a row.

Madelyn Hopper made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Kelsie Bumb was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Jada Uribes was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Montpelier always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pettisville only posted an OBP of .118.
Meanwhile, while it was Edon who put the first points on the board on Monday, it was Antwerp who put up more. The Bombers lost 13-3 to the Archers. The Bombers have struggled against the Archers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Montpelier pushed their record up to 1-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Edon, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Everything went Montpelier's way against Edon when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Montpelier made off with a 13-3 victory. Do the Locomotives have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bombers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
