Dobson is on a six-game streak of home losses, and Mesa a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Dobson Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Mesa Jackrabbits at 3:45 p.m. Dobson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Dobson turned things around against West Point on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Dragons. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Brody Dobson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Dobson was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Freddy Leal was a standout: he scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Noah Giron, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Dobson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Mesa fell victim to Red Mountain and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 10-0 to the Mountain Lions. Considering the last time the Jackrabbits couldn't score was back in February, the team can't take the result too hard.
Mesa saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gerardo Sanchez, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Dobson's win bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Mesa, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.
Dobson came out on top in a nail-biter against Mesa when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Jackrabbits have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
