Cheyenne Mountain relied on the efforts of Cayden Cooper, who scored 13 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals, and Marek Patterson, who went 6 for 7 en route to 12 points plus seven rebounds and two steals. The dominant performance also gave Patterson a new career-high in assists (two). Dalton Larner was another key player, scoring six points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds.
Harrison kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 80-73 to Sand Creek.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jeilo Hamenyimana, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayten Franko, who went 10 for 17 en route to 25 points plus two steals.
Even though they lost, Harrison smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sand Creek only pulled down nine.
