Basketball Recap: Northwestern Skates Past St. Brendan with Ease

Northwestern extended their postseason success on Saturday against St. Brendan. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the St. Brendan Sabres 56-14. The Bulls have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Northwestern's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Myah Newton led the charge by dropping a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. The game was Newton's third in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Tayana Dixon, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards.

The victory (which was Northwestern's fourth in a row) raised their record to 20-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.8 points over those games. As for St. Brendan, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.

Looking ahead, Northwestern will square off against Boynton Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northwestern's defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so Boynton Beach's offense will have their work cut out for them. St. Brendan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
