Football Recap: Pennington Skates Past Saks with Ease

While Pennington put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Saks. The Tigers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Wildcats 49-0. That 49 point margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.

Pennington found their leader in freshman Gibson Posey, who rushed for 137 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries. Posey also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making five total tackles and defending one pass. Noah McClendon was another key player, gaining 74 total yards and two touchdowns.

Pennington was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 247 rushing yards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Pennington didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut McClendon. Another thorn in Saks' side was Ty Morgan, who picked up a sack, forced two fumbles, and made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

The victory was the fourth in a row for Pennington, bringing their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.3 points over those games. As for Saks, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Pennington will be playing in front of their home fans against Piedmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 31 points in their last five matchups. As for Saks, they will take on Glencoe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
