The Mount Vernon Patriots's found some homefield redemption this week after a tough overtime loss to the Milford Tigers on Wednesday. Mount Vernon was the clear victor by a 69-43 margin over Telos. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Mount Vernon has posted yet this season.
Mount Vernon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Andrew McMurdie led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. McMurdie is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Payton Breeze, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Mount Vernon's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10. As for Telos, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-15.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Utah School for the Deaf & Blind the next time they take the court. Telos will head out to face Utah School for the Deaf & Blind at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Mount Vernon will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
