Baseball Recap: Cyprus Has No Trouble Against Kearns

Cyprus won against Kearns on Wednesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Pirates were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Cougars. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Dj Oveson was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reiner Hidalgo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Densley, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Cyprus hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matches.

Cyprus' record now sits at 17-5. As for Kearns, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-17.
