Basalt scored the most runs they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Glenwood Springs Demons by a score of 10-9. The defeat continues a trend for the Longhorns in their meetings with the Demons: they've now lost three in a row.

Shan Donnelly and Chris Hays did some serious damage despite the final result: Donnelly went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Hays went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base was Donnelly's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Ferreira, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Basalt now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Glenwood Springs, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Looking ahead, Basalt will venture away from home to challenge Moffat County at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Glenwood Springs, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Grand Junction Central at 4:30 p.m. on April 2.
