Having just played yesterday, the Ruidoso Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Mescalero Apache Chiefs at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Ruidoso has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
On Tuesday, Ruidoso didn't have too much trouble with Hatch Valley at home as they won 64-50.
Ruidoso relied on the efforts of Logan Sandoval, who dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists, and Patrick Kimbrell, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Sandoval is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Herrera, who scored 11 points.
Mescalero Apache lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on last Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They had to suffer through a rough 72-40 loss at the hands of Hagerman. Mescalero Apache has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ruidoso now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Mescalero Apache, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Everything went Ruidoso's way against Mescalero Apache in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as Ruidoso made off with a 51-26 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ruidoso since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
