The Lumberton Pirates fell victim to the Seventy-First Falcons''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Falcons, falling 63-0. Having soared to a lofty 41 points in the game before, Lumberton couldn't push the score so high this time.
It was another big night for Deandre Nance, who rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 75 yards and a touchdown on only six passes. Amire Drummond was in the mix as well, providing Seventy-First with three touchdowns.
Lumberton's loss was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.5 points per game. As for Seventy-First, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Lumberton will be playing at home against Purnell Swett at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Purnell Swett comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Seventy-First, they will head out on the road to face off against Douglas Byrd at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Douglas Byrd is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
