Baseball Recap: Franklin Academy Comes Up Short

If Franklin Academy was feeling good fresh off their 12-6 takedown of Wake Prep Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Patriots came up short against the Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs on Tuesday, falling 8-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 back in February.

Franklin Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trey Anderson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Franklin Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Wake Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Franklin Academy and Wake Christian Academy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Patriots (ranked 306th) will meet East Wake Academy (ranked 106th) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Wake Christian Academy will challenge Burlington Christian Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (126 vs. 39).
