Denver East has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Rangeview Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Denver East knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully the Raiders like a good challenge.
A well-balanced attack led Denver East over the Warriors in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Denver East blew the Warriors out of the water with a 84-18 final score. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-10.
James Murray and Maurice Fulcher were among the main playmakers for Denver East as the former scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals and the latter almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine assists. Fulcher is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ehud Tesfoye, who scored ten points along with five assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Rangeview put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They blew past Aurora Central 72-31 at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for Rangeview.
Rangeview got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Elijah Denney out in front who scored ten points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Yasin Sekue, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Denver East has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Rangeview, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-10.
Everything went Denver East's way against the Raiders in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the Angels made off with a 74-54 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Denver East since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
