The Lake Weir Hurricanes can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They had just enough and edged South Sumter out 59-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Lake Weir to victory were Amari Kiner and John Smith. Kiner scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Smith scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tra'shawn Warren, who scored eight points along with five assists and four steals.
Lake Weir's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-12. As for South Sumter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-10.
