Calhoun is 2-8 against the Hawks since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Calhoun Red Devils will head out on the road to challenge the South Harrison Hawks at 7:30 p.m. Calhoun will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Even though Calhoun has not done well against the Panthers recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Calhoun took down the Panthers 49-35.
Landon Bennett continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with six steals and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Calhoun's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Buckius, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, South Harrison came into Saturday's game having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 60-53 victory over Tygarts Valley on Saturday. The victory was just what South Harrison needed coming off of a 61-29 defeat in their prior contest.
Calhoun now has a winning record of 8-7. South Harrison's record is now 3-13.
Everything came up roses for Calhoun against the Hawks in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 63-19 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Calhoun since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
