St. Clair is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Sterling Heights Stevenson 22-5 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
St. Clair got a great performance from Lilyana Martin as she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits.
At the plate, Madisyn Treat and Mallorie Randall did most of the damage at the plate: Treat went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Randall went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Treat has posted since back in May of 2025. Maliyah Smith was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
St. Clair always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Romeo hit Chippewa Valley with a four-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Big Reds took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Big Reds have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Miley Austin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
St. Clair's record is now 9-2. As for Chippewa Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
Chippewa Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. St. Clair has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Chippewa Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 strikeouts. Will St. Clair keep running through batters, or will the Big Reds buck the trend?
St. Clair got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 against Chippewa Valley by a conclusive 11-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saints since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
