Charlotte Latin is 2-8 against Providence Day since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hawks will head out on the road to take on the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated after seven games, but that won't be the case come Friday.
On Friday, Charlotte Latin got the win against Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy] by a conclusive 38-17. Fans of the Hawks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
It was another big night for De'Jon Douglas, who rushed for 133 yards and three touchdowns. Douglas is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 116 every time he's taken the field this season. Dylan Muligan also helped out with an impressive 85 receiving yards.

Charlotte Latin's defense stepped up as well, laying out Lucas Lopez seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Matthew Flynn and Na'Il Diggs, who racked up 4.5 sacks between them. Diggs also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 12. Charlotte Latin received some extra help from Matthew Dwayne Barber, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Providence Day). They breezed past Christ School to the tune of 71-0 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Chargers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked second, while the Greenies are ranked 121st).
Charlotte Latin better keep an eye on Zaid Lott. He was instrumental in Providence Day's win, throwing for 225 yards and five TDs while completing 72.2% of his passes, and also rushing for 30 yards. What's more, Lott racked up 153.9 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aidan Gallos, who rushed for 102 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries.
Charlotte Latin's record is now 7-0. As for Providence Day, their record now sits at an identical 7-0.
