The Holbrook Roadrunners are taking a road trip to face off against the St. Johns Redskins at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Holbrook has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while St. Johns will arrive with four straight wins.
Holbrook blew Page out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Page got their revenge. The Roadrunners fell just short of the Sand Devils by a score of 3-1. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Holbrook saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tildyn Larson, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, St. Johns beat Gilbert Classical Academy 11-8 on Thursday.
St. Johns got a massive performance out of Kaden Waite, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Waite has become a key player for the Redskins: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-10 otherwise. T Platt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
St. Johns kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in four consecutive matchups.
Holbrook's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for St. Johns, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10.
St. Johns' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Holbrook has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for St. Johns, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Holbrook's sizable advantage in that area, the Redskins will need to find a way to close that gap.
Holbrook got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March against St. Johns by a conclusive 14-6 score. Do the Roadrunners have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Redskins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
