The McCluer Comets will square off against the Collinsville Kahoks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. McCluer is hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Two weeks ago, McCluer came up short against Marquette and fell 53-44. While losing is never fun, McCluer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 299th, while Marquette is ranked 142nd).
Meanwhile, Collinsville can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game on Wednesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 76-44 win over Lift for Life Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Collinsville has posted since December 28, 2023.
Collinsville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamorie Wysinger, who scored 22 points. Nick Horras was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five assists.
McCluer's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Collinsville, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-2.
McCluer was taken down by Collinsville 60-24 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can McCluer avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
