If the Sabinal Yellowjackets were feeling good off their 76-32 takedown of the Charlotte Trojans last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Sabinal took a 52-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stacey on Tuesday. Sabinal was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Stacey apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Sabinal still got an impressive performance from Joseph Contreras, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Ricardo Perez was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Sabinal now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Stacey, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Sabinal will be playing in front of their home fans against Lee Academy of Science & Engineering at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Stacey, they will head out on the road to square off against Brackett at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
