Baseball Game Preview: Neptune vs. Keyport Raiders

Neptune will square off against the Keyport Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Neptune is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Asbury Park get on the board and left with a 19-0 win on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what Neptune needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Joshua Roman and Tyler Davinson made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Roman pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Davinson tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Roman got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs, while Davinson got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three runs. Those two runs gave Roman a new career-high.

In other batting news, Neptune got a massive performance out of Javier Gordon, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Gordon a new career-high. Henry Davino was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Neptune always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .788. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Keyport put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Keansburg as they made off with a 15-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won three matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Neptune's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Keyport, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
