Softball Recap: Alta Loma Wins Going Away Against Garey

There's no place like home for Alta Loma, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Garey Vikings with a sharp 17-1 win on Thursday. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Braves this season.

Donica Meyndert tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Alta Loma let Alexis Serrano and Madison Meredith run wild. Serrano scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Meredith went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Meredith a new career-high. Alissa Vizon also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Alta Loma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Alta Loma's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Garey, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alta Loma will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Colony at 3:30 p.m. on April 2nd. As for Garey, they will be playing at home against Sierra Vista at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
