Wake Forest (N.C.) didn't let up as Saturday's game came to a close, scoring 14 in the fourth quarter to seal a 37-7 victory over Heritage (Wake Forest, N.C.).
After taking the lead on a
Bryce Love touchdown run in the second quarter, the Cougars were up 9-7 at the half.
Wake Forest expanded its lead to 16 points entering the fourth quarter. WF scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Love.
Heritage's only touchdown came on an 18-yard pass in the second quarter.
The Cougars came in allowing an average of 18.9 points per game this season. The defense really stepped up, holding Heritage well below its season average of 15.9 points scored per game.
The win was a nice bounce back for WF, which lost to Wakefield last week, 32-26. The defeat comes as a step back for Heritage, which notched a 39-12 victory over Enloe in its previous outing.
Wake Forest (7-1) goes up against Leesville Road in a 4A Conference 11 game matchup next week, while Heritage (5-3) locks horns with Millbrook also in a 4A Conference 11 game.
