The Oakleaf Knights will head out to take on the Baldwin Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Having struggled with 12 defeats in a row, Oakleaf turned things around against Matanzas on Saturday. They blew past the Pirates 15-5. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
The team relied heavily on Alexis Fisher, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Desiree Norris also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Oakleaf was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Matanzas only posted a batting average of .217.
Meanwhile, Baldwin got the win against Episcopal School of Jacksonville on Wednesday by a conclusive 18-2. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Lilly Hubbard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Kk Fry was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Tiana Gissentanner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Oakleaf's record now sits at 2-12. As for Baldwin, their record is now 13-4.
Oakleaf came out on top in a nail-biter against Baldwin in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
