Greenwood (S.C.) took an early lead against Woodmont (Piedmont, S.C.) and held on for a 45-12 victory on Saturday.
The Eagles put up 17 points in the opening frame. Greenwood scored on a touchdown run by
CJ Jackson, a field goal by
Jon Croft Hollingsworth and a defensive touchdown.
After taking the lead on a Jackson touchdown run in the first quarter, GHS led 31-0 at the half.
The Eagles expanded their lead to 33 points entering the fourth quarter. Greenwood scored two times in the third, including once on an
Octavius Morgan touchdown run.
GHS came in allowing an average of 20.7 points per game this season.
Greenwood (4-3) goes up against Hanna in a AAAA Region I game matchup next week, while Woodmont (3-4) locks horns with Easley also in a AAAA Region I game.
