Basketball Recap: Bishop England's Loss Ends 22-Game Winning Streak at Home

Bishop England entered their match against Karns on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bishop England Battling Bishops took a 64-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Karns Beavers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Battling Bishops came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 25th in South Carolina, while the Beavers are ranked 233rd in Tennessee).

Defeat or not, Bishop England got some senior leadership from Lisse Van De Erve and Hannah Rosato. Van De ErVe dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds, while Rosato went 6 of 10 on her way to 17 points and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Van De ErVe has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadley Irvine, who posted nine points.

Bishop England's loss ended a 22-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-3. As for Karns, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop England will take on Keenan in a tournament on Monday. Karns and Lawrence County will round out the year against one another at at 10:15 a.m. on Monday.
