Crestline is 0-4 against New London since May of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 5:15 p.m. Crestline will be strutting in after a win while New London will be coming in after a defeat.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Crestline turned things around against Vanlue on Monday. They blew past the Wildcats 11-1. The Bulldogs' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last five games.
Quentin Kapp made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adam Burton, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jayden Rumple also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Crestline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, New London was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 14-7 to Monroeville.
New London saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joe Gum, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Gum is becoming a predictor of the Wildcats' success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 1-13 when he doesn't). Another was Brody Sword, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.
New London's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Crestline, their victory bumped their record up to 3-16.
New London's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Crestline has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for New London, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Crestline keep running through batters, or will the Wildcats buck the trend?
