Steelton-Highspire is 0-10 against Trinity since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Steamrollers will face off against the Shamrocks at 4:00 p.m. Steelton-Highspire has given up an average of 14.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Steelton-Highspire fell victim to East Pennsboro and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 16-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Steamrollers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, Trinity waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Fighting Irish. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Shamrocks considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Garreth Calder was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Preston Groff was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Trinity was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as York Catholic only posted a batting average of .154.
Trinity pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Steelton-Highspire, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Steelton-Highspire has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Trinity struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Steelton-Highspire might still be hurting after the 26-2 loss they got from Trinity in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Steamrollers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
