The De Kalb Bears will venture away from home to take on the Redwater Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Redwater will be up against a hot De Kalb squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. De Kalb beat New Boston on Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 16-1. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Kaydee Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted over her last ten games.

De Kalb kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, everything went Redwater's way against New Boston on Friday as Redwater made off with a 13-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won seven in a row.
Like De Kalb, Redwater also got a great game from a two-way player: Addison Bruner. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Bruner a new career-low in earned runs (zero). She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alivia Thompson, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Karly Jo Brown, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
De Kalb's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.5 runs. As for Redwater, their record is now 3-9-1.
Redwater's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: De Kalb hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .393. It's a different story for Redwater, though, as they've only averaged .232. Will they be able to contain De Kalb's hitters?
De Kalb couldn't quite finish off Redwater in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can De Kalb avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
