Basketball Game Preview: Combs Coyotes vs. Crismon Rattlers

The Combs Coyotes will head out on the road to face off against the Crismon Rattlers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Combs has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 188 points over their last three contests.

Combs is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Poston Butte 74-60 on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Coyotes as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Combs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Quinmetris Cunningham, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Cunningham is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Skyler Lawrence was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 15 points and three steals.

Combs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Crismon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 68-46 to Eastmark. While losing is never fun, the Rattlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Firebirds are ranked 119th).

Crismon's loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Combs, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Combs took their win against Crismon in their previous matchup on January 10th by a conclusive 57-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Combs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
