After flying high against the Founders Classical Academy Eagles last Saturday, the Liberty Christian Warriors came back down to earth. Liberty Christian fell 76-64 to Southwest Christian School on Friday. While losing is never fun, Liberty Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 699th, while Southwest Christian School is ranked 190th).
When it comes to explaining why Liberty Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Max Hinds. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 2 assists. Another player making a difference was Chuka Akpom, who scored 17 points.
Liberty Christian's loss dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Southwest Christian School, their win bumped their record up to 19-8.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Midland Christian the next time they take the court. Southwest Christian School will host Midland Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Liberty Christian will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
