The Holliston Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Westwood Wolverines at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Holliston has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 17.
On Monday, Holliston came up short against Ashland and fell 7-3.
Isabella Weidman was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Those two earned runs gave her a new career-low. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Weidman wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caroline Harris, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Julia Galileau was another, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, Westwood won against Norwood on Monday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Wolverines were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Millis. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Holliston, Westwood also got a great game from a two-way player: Bridget Mulkeen. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Mulkeen has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Westwood got a massive performance out of Eve Clinton, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Sasha Marino, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two doubles.
Westwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millis only posted an OBP of .118.
Westwood has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Holliston, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.
Everything went Holliston's way against Westwood in their previous matchup back in April, as Holliston made off with an 11-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
