The Grandview Wolves will head out to take on the Castle View Sabercats at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Grandview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Grandview came up short against Vista PEAK Prep and fell 8-5. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Grandview got a good showing from Logan Hurtado, who struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Jackson Bernosky was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakson Bush, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Castle View came out on top against Mullen on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Sabercats took their matchup against the Mustangs 10-6. The Sabercats have beaten the Mustangs the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mustangs has come to flipping the script.
Cole Cates made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Castle View is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-6 otherwise. Cates was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Tyler Feldhake was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025. Luke Roybal also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Castle View's record now sits at 4-7. As for Grandview, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Grandview was able to grind out a solid win over Castle View in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
