Carthage is 9-1 against the Bulldogs since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Carthage Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Carl Junction Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Even though Carthage has not done well against the Tigers recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Carthage enjoyed a cozy 60-41 victory over the Tigers. The win was just what Carthage needed coming off of a 79-50 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Carl Junction came up short against the Tigers on Friday and fell 71-59. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Carl Junction in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the loss, Carl Junction saw an underclassman step up: Brody Pant scored 26 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That was a full 44.1% of Carl Junction's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Deacon Endicott, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Carthage has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Carl Junction, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
Everything came up roses for Carthage against the Bulldogs when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 82-52 win. Does Carthage have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
